Wrongful Death
A wrongful death is any fatality that occurs as a result of third-party negligence. Wrongful deaths occur suddenly, and often cause much emotional trauma for a decedent’s family. It would be nice to believe that wrongful deaths do not occur often. However, many people are killed wrongfully each year. This can happen as a result of the negligence of a third-party to an auto accident, drunk driving accident (DWI), trucking accident, or slip and fall accident. Deaths of this nature are tragic because, in most cases, it is preventable.
Wrongful death is an area of law that was established to protect families who have lost loved ones due to the negligence of a third-party. According to Texas law, families of wrongful death victims may recover monetary compensation for things such aspecuniary losses, mental anguish, loss of companionship and society, and loss of inheritance. This compensation allows families to move forward without having to worry about their economic stability.
